- GRIPiTe®C60 SD Has a low odour, making it suitable for use in rooms adjacent to occupied areas.
- GRIPiTe®C60 SD is Water-based, with no organic solvents, this adhesive is “green” and complies with all GBCSA requirements.
The preparation of the surface is critical to ensure successful installation of any covering and must therefore be strictly adhered to, to ensure longevity and performance of the covering for the duration of Its lifespan.
- The substrate must be structurally sound.
- Free of loose granular particles.
- Free of excess dust.
- Dry – moisture levels must be below 3% using a VI-D4 Moisture meter and or below 75%RH. • Adhere to the covering manufacturer’s specification for moisture levels. should the covering manufacturers moisture level specification differ from that in point 4 the lower of the two should be maintained.
- Free of any contamination, laitance, old adhesive, grease, oils, wax, sealers, paint, and any substance that can inhibit adhesion.
- Adhere to the covering manufacturer’s specification for floor flatness conformity. We recommend that SANS 10070:2012 be complied with.
- The temperatures must be maintained constantly above 10°c and below 30°c during and after the application, flash off, and final drying of the adhesive.
- The temperature must not fluctuate more than 19°c from the Initial temperature reading during Installation.
- If applying over previously painted or coated surfaces, it is advisable to ensure that these are sound and capable of carrying any weight and not delaminating.
- It is advisable to degrease steel or aluminium surfaces prior to application to ensure proper bonding. Wooden surfaces may require priming with GRIPiTe®C60 SD to promote better bonding. Further surface preparation information can be made available on request.
MOISTURE
Should the moisture levels exceed that stipulated above, and that mandated by the covering manufacturer it is imperative that the substrate be prepared with VAPORiTe® Plus, or Premium depending on the application and complexity thereof. Further information pertaining to the correct product for the application can be made available on request.
SURFACE FINISH
The surface must conform to the requirements set out by the covering manufacturer to ensure the covering maintains Integrity throughout its life span. should the surface not conform to that required, the surface can be rectified utilizing the appropriate LEVELiTe® self-levelling, or DURALiTe® skim plaster compound.
- GRIPiTe®C60 SD Contact Adhesive functions when the two pre-adhered surfaces have flashed off, leaving tacky but dry adhesive films on them.
- Care must be taken to allow the adhesive films to dry sufficiently to prevent entrapment of any water from the adhesive between the surfaces, which will retard the curing and final bond strength. • Atmospheric conditions will influence fl ash off times and as such time to fl ash off may vary • ensure no building dust and debris contaminates the adhesive film as this will affect adhesion properties as well as mirror through the floor covering.
- Use a mohair or foam roller to apply the adhesive in a thin, fi ne even layer onto each surface, and wait for the two surfaces to dry.
- When dry, line up the material to be bonded carefully, and place the material into the adhesive, rubbing it into position to ensure no air entrapment.
- When finally positioned, rub the surface entirely, bring pressure to bear to promote the best possible bond.
- NB The floor temperature must be maintained constantly above 10°c during and after the application, flash off and final drying of the adhesive. The floor temperature must not deviate more than 19°c from the Initial temperature reading during Installation
- NB When the two adhesive-applied surfaces are brought together, subsequent movement of the sheeting or material is NOT possible. It is important to line the material up correctly before bringing the surfaces into contact with one another as movement may lift adhesive causing failure.
- When fixing materials to substrates other than cementitious screeds or substrates, please consult with iTe Products’ technical staff.
GRIPiTe®C60 SD Contact is applied onto both surfaces with a mohair roller. This method yields approximately 6m² per Litre. (covering both surfaces)
For extrusions or small profiles, a brush application is preferable to ensure that sufficient adhesive is present to bridge the two surfaces. This method yields approximately 6m² per Litre. (covering both surfaces)
On very porous substrates it is advisable to apply sufficient adhesive to prevent glue-line starvation by using a lamb’s wool roller, or priming the surface with a coat of GRIPiTe®C60 first.
RIPiTe®C60 SD must be stored in a cool dry place.
GRIPiTe®C60 SD must be stored between 5°c and 30°c, and protected from frost, direct sunlight and the elements.
GRIPiTe®C60 SD will last for 12 months unopened.
- Ensure the covering is properly acclimatised prior to Installation, as per covering manufacturers recommendations, and installation instructions prior to use.
- Ensure a stable ambient temperature is maintained for a minimum of 24 hours pre, during and post Installation to allow the adhesive to fully cure and minimise any expansion and shrinkage within the covering material.
- Allow the adhesive 24 hours to set before applying any load to the covering, this Includes but is not limited to furniture.
Safety goggles and gloves should be worn to protect the eyes and skin from accidental exposure. In the event of eye contamination, the eyes must immediately be washed out with copious amounts of clean water, and medical assistance sought.
It is recommended that overalls be worn to minimise soiling of clothing.
