CEMENT-BASED SUBSTRATES:
The preparation of the subfloor is critical to ensure successful installation of any floor covering and must therefore be strictly adhered to, to ensure longevity and performance of the floor and floor covering for the duration of Its lifespan.
- The substrate must be structurally sound.
- Free of loose granular particles.
- Free of excess dust.
- Dry-screed moisture levels must be below 3% using a VI-D4 Moisture meter and or below 75%RH. • Adhere to the floor covering manufacturer’s specification for moisture levels. should the floor covering manufacturers moisture level specification differ from that in point 4 the lower of the two should be maintained.
- Free of any contamination, laitance, old adhesive, grease, oils, wax, sealers, and any substance that can inhibit adhesion.
- Adhere to the floor covering manufacturer’s specification for floor flatness conformity. • The floor temperature must be maintained constantly above 10°c and below 30°c during and after the application, flash off, and final drying of the adhesive.
- the floor temperature must not fluctuate more than 15°c from the Initial temperature reading during Installation.
- dimensionally unstable products should be protected from direct sunlight, and excessive fluctuations in temperature and humidity before during and after Installation.
Further subfloor preparation information can be made available on request.
SCREED MOISTURE
Should the screed moisture levels exceed that stipulated above, and that mandated by the floor covering manufacturer it is imperative that the substrate be prepared with VAPORiTe® Plus, or Premium depending on the application and complexity thereof. Further information pertaining to the correct product for the application can be made available on request.
SUBFLOOR SURFACE FINISH
The subfloor surface must conform to the requirements set out by the floor covering manufacturer to ensure the floor covering maintains Integrity throughout its life span. should the surface not conform to that required, the subfloor can be rectified utilizing the appropriate LEVELiTe® self-levelling compound.
- GRIPiTe®V50 is poured onto the floor and evenly spread with the A2 notched trowel. • the notched trowel must be held perpendicular to the floor surface to ensure the correct volume of adhesive is applied.
- GRIPiTe®V50 must be allowed to flash off and develop its tack which happens approximately 10min after application.
- Note: Do not apply GRIPiTe®V50 to an area bigger than that which can be fitted within the working time of the adhesive.
- Atmospheric conditions will influence fl ash off times, working time, and as such time to fl ash off may vary.
- Ensure no building dust and debris contaminates the adhesive film as this will affect adhesion properties as well as mirror through the floor covering.
- At this point the floor covering is laid into the adhesive following the floor covering manufacturers installation instructions.
- Allow sufficient transfer onto the back of the floor covering (If the floor covering is laid in too late insufficient transfer occurs, and the adhesion is compromised and weak). If the floor covering is laid to early adhesive may push between the gaps and cause inadequate adhesion.
- Lay the floor covering into the adhesive and ensure any air trapped between covering and substrate is removed.
- ensuring full contact is made between adhesive and floor covering.
- Roll the floor covering utilising a 68kg heavy roller in a north, south and then east, west fashion to maximise transfer and flatten the adhesive ridge lines.
- Re-roll the surface utilising the 68kg heavy roller once the installation is completed and or if required to ensure full contact is achieved.
• NB The floor temperature must be maintained constantly above 10°c during and after the application, flash off and final drying of the adhesive. The floor temperature must not deviate more than 15°c from the Initial temperature reading during Installation.
- Ensure the floor covering is properly acclimatised prior to Installation, as per floor covering manufacturers recommendations, and installation instructions prior to use.
- Ensure a stable ambient temperature is maintained for a minimum of 24 hours pre, during and post Installation to allow the adhesive to fully cure and minimise any expansion and shrinkage within the floor covering material.
- protect the floor covering from direct sunlight, vast fluctuations in temperature and moisture at all times.
- Allow the adhesive 24 hours to set before applying any load to the floor covering, this Includes but is not limited to furniture.
- The use of chair protectors is strongly recommended to minimise ware on the entire flooring system.
- Walk-off mats are also recommended to minimise soiling of the floor covering.
GRIPiTe®V50 has an approximate spread rate of 4m²/litre when applied using an A2 notched trowel on a LEVELiTe® surface.
- The life span of the notched trowel greatly impacts the volume of adhesive applied to the substrate and should therefore not be modifi ed or tampered with in any way. Failure to adhere to this may result in nullifi cation of guarantees issued by iTe Products.
- The notch has a life span of approximately 50²m per side (if supplied by iTe Products)
GRIPiTe®V50 must be stored in a cool dry place.
GRIPiTe®V50 must be stored between 5°c and 30°c, and protected from frost, direct sunlight and the elements.
GRIPiTe®V50 will last for 12 months unopened.
