iTePROTILE Key 5L
Additional Product Data
iTe PROTILE®KEY is a latex based liquid additive used as a primer or keying agent when used with iTe PROTILE® Tile adhesives.
iTe PROTILE®KEY is designed to be used as a slurry priming coat to improve adhesion on smooth, dense impervious surfaces such as power floated concrete slabs or for over tile applications.
Ensure that all surfaces are clean, dry, sound and free from dust, grease or any contamination that could impair bonding.
Make good any unsound areas and remove flaky or peeling layers.
Organic growth must be removed and the spores killed. PVA paint and gypsum plaster must be chipped to expose 80% of the substrate. Enamel paint and bitumen should be scraped and chipped to expose 80% of the substrate.
Do not use a solvent or heat to remove bitumen from the surface. Existing ceramic tiles must be thoroughly cleaned.
Rinse well with cold water
iTe PROTILE®KEY is used as a slurry to prime dense or smooth surfaces. (i.e. powerfloated concrete or existing tiles) which consists of mixing 1 part iTe PROTILE®KEY mixed with 2 parts iTe PROTILE®BASE.
Add the required amount of iTe PROTILE®KEY in a clean mixing container, using a +/-900 rpm electric paddle mixer add the iTe PROTILE®BASE until a lump free viscous liquid is produced. Stop the mixer and scrape the inside of the mixing vessel to allow any unmixed product to fall onto the paste. Briefly remix
the iTe PROTILE® mixture again. The mixed product should be used within 60 minutes.
Apply the mixed iTe PROTILE®KEY slurry onto the substrate using a block brush, care is to be taken that the entire surface is covered with the slurry.
The applied iTe PROTILE®KEY is left to dry completely. A scratch test can be done to ensure the product is sufficiently dry and firmly bonded. When sctratch the product should not come off the surface. Should the application criteria fall outside of the above parameters please refer to the technical datasheet or consult with the iTe Products Technical team.
When used as a primer/slurry 1 Litre covers approximately 4m2. The coverage is dependent on the porosity of the subsurface. Actual coverage will be determined by floor and wall conditions on site as well as workmanship.
All data given has been tested at a room temperature of 20°C and 50% relative humidity. Site conditions vary and setting times may accelerate under warmer conditions and slow down under colder or wetter conditions. The applicator should adjust his work method accordingly.
Do not ingest. Keep away from children and pets. Do not empty into a drain. Wear rubber gloves, and in the event of contamination, rinse thoroughly with cold water. Seek medical advice if irritation or discomfort persists. For further information, consult the relevant health and safety data sheet.
iTe® PROTILE KEY is guaranteed to be free of any manufacturing defect. iTe PRODUCTS® further warrants that if iTe® PROTILE KEY is applied in accordance with the relevant method statement issued for the specific project, by an approved applicator, the system is guaranteed for the life of the floorcovering.
